Starting out as the United Rubber Workers in 1977, the Local 1023 members fought a long hard battle to get the Union into Mohawk Rubber. Mohawk Rubber was bought out by Yokohama Tire Corporation in 1990. In 1995 the United Rubber Workers joined with the United Steelworkers to form what is now the USW Local 1023L. The USW Local 1023 is dedicated to ensure the rights we negotiated for in our contract are maintained, we have the safest workplace possible and that all of our members have the best representation that can be given. It's important to get involved and keep our Local 1023 strong to ensure our standard of living within the workplace and on into the future.
